Make it two consecutive victories for the Cazenovia girls indoor track and field team in Mohawk Valley Indoor Track Association meets.
In the second of the contests, held Tuesday at Colgate University’s Samford Field House, the Lakers again finished on top, its 90 points well clear of runner-up Clinton (65 points) and the rest of the nine-team field.
Just four days after its season debut, the Lakers started taking over in the 55-meter dash, where Ashley Winn (7.53 seconds) and Jillian Vogl (7.88 seconds) again went 1-2 for the full 10 points. In the sprint medley relay, Winn and Vogl helped Ashley Kent and Caroline Marshall earn another victory in 4:30.90.
The quartet of Megan Stanford, Margaret Wolsey, Rae Tobey and Jeannette Cudney claimed a victory in the distance medley relay in 13:39.84. Stanford and Cudney joined Emma Wolsey and Tori Wright to finish a close second (10:45.03) to Rome Free Academy (10:44.25) in the 4×800 relay as the Lakers also swept the top four spots in the non-point sprint medley relay.
Meanwhile, Paige Biviano got two individual titles, as she cleared 4 feet 10 inches in the high jump and shared team honors with Marie Sugio (4 feet 6 inches), and also claimed the 55-meter hurdles in 9.34 seconds as part of a fourth-place effort.
Cazenovia piled up points in field events. Glenna Kelahan and Annika Christensen combined to clear 11 feet 6 inches for second place in the pole vault. Molly Woodworth and Sarah Haley threw the shot put a total of 52 feet 6 ½ inches for another runner-up spot.
Also, Haley and Woodworth were third (43 feet 2 ½ inches) in the weight throw, while Liz Pittman and Hannah Light-Olson were third (58 feet 4 ¾ inches) in the triple jump. Pittman and Ashley Kent teamed for fourth (25 feet 6 ½ inches) in the long jump.
On its way to 32 points and a sixth-place finish in the boys MVITA event, the Lakers saw David Ayer, Matt Donovan, Doyle Judge and Anthony Randino get second place in the 4×200 relay in 1:41.24, inches behind Clinton (1:41.24) for the top spot.
Dylan Muller and Brodie Kellish combined for third place in the triple jump, going 70 feet 5 ¾ inches between them. Muller, by himself, cleared 11 feet for third place in the pole vault (fifth as a team) Cazenovia added fifth-place efforts in the high jump and weight throw.
The Lakers were fourth in the 1,600 sprint medley (4:17.95) and sixth in the long jump, 4×800 and distance medley as it headed to a brief holiday break before its next MVITA meet on Friday afternoon, again at Colgate.
