Never before had the Fayetteville-Manlius girls golf team sent so many players to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship tournament. In all, four Hornets – Alex Seabury, Meghan Kingsley, Carly Kidd and Maria Mintskovsky – were part of the Section III team at SUNY-Delhi, along with Christian Brothers Academy’s Mary Fletcher and Jamesville-DeWitt’s Victoria Roney. Of them, Seabury would fare the best. She shot a 77 in the first round, and then followed it up with a 78 in the second round to finish at 155, tied for fifth place with Emma Ritzman and Gabrielle Sacheli, both from Section V. Fletcher tied for 16th, posting an 83 and 77 for a 160. Kidd and Mintskovsky matched each other with 183 to tie for 47th as Kingsley posted a 194 and Roney finished at 209. And they all were behind Baldwinsville’s Lauren Petty. Capping a senior season that included a Section III individual championship, Petty, with a final-round 70 (the best individual round of the tournament), came from behind to beat first-round leader Sam Sessa (Section VIII, Garden City) by one shot. As a team, Section III had a total of 1,169, finishing fourth. Section V took home top honors as they finished at 1,095, with Section XI (1,118) and Section VIII (1,141) second and third, respectively.
