Success in the sprints and selected field events helped the Baldwinsville girls track and field team finish sixth in Tuesday’s Section III Class AA championship meet at Cicero-North Syracuse’s Bragman Stadium. Out of a 13-team field, the Bees picked up 52 points, just behind Utica Proctor in fourth (58 points) and Rome Free Academy (54 points) in fifth. Fayetteville-Manlius, spurred by its dominant group of distance runners, won the team title with 152 points. B’ville went 1-2 in the 200-meter dash, as junior Gina Carnovale won in 27.19 seconds and sophomore Gabrielle Jordan got second in 27.34 seconds. But Jordan had her own moment of glory in the 100-meter dash, taking the title in 12.81 seconds as Carnovale was fifth (13.16 seconds) and Stephanie Vasteno took sixth in 13.21 seconds. Over in the 4×400 relay, Morgan Marshall, Mackenzie Ross, Quaneisha Ivey and Cierra Allen finished second, in 4:13.59, as F-M prevailed in 4:06.30. Sierra Earle had a fourth-place shot put toss of 31 feet 7 1/4 inches and was fifth (84 feet 3 inches) in the discus. Cierra Allen worked her way to fourth place in the 400-meter dash in 1:02 flat, with Quaneisha Ivey (1:02.89) in seventh place. Emily Soeder cleared 4 feet 10 inches for sixth place in the high jump as Alexi Pateras and Andrea Pateras tied for sixth in the pole vault, each clearing 7 feet 6 inches. Mackenzie Ross took seventh in the 800-meter run (2:28.84) as Anne Peterson got eighth in the 3,000-meter run and Julia Johnson was 10th in the 1,500-meter run. The Bees were sixth in the 4×800 relay in 10:42.61.
