In advance of its delayed head-to-head encounter on Monday afternoon, the Jamesville-DeWitt and East Syracuse-Minoa track and field teams both had sweeps of OHSL Freedom division meets Wednesday afternoon. For the Red Rams, that meant taking apart Mexico and Cortland as, on the boys end, J-D won 110-31 over the Purple Tigers and 83-58 over the Tigers. J-D’s girls ripped past Cortland 137-4 and did the same to Mexico, 127-9. In that girls meet, Ameena Dye was first in the 1,500-meter run in 5:19.6 and needed 11:42.0 to claim the 3,000-meter title, while Paige Morrow was first (2:33.9) in the 800-meter run. Ally Fox swept to titles in the 100-meter dash (12.8 seconds) and 200-meter dash (26.5 seconds), while Sierra Vasiliou took the long jump and shot put. Other titles went to Taylor-Rae Danforth (100 hurdles), Courtney Ellis (400 hurdles), Katy Pieri (400-meter dash), Danielle Doss (pole vault), Tangela Hightower (discus) and Liz PIeri (high jump). In the 4×400 relay, Doss, Katy Pieri, Liz Pieri and Kayla Fulmer took first place in 4:22.3. Moving to the boys meet, Will Sterriker swept the 110 high hurdles (16.0 seconds) and 400 hurdles (one minute flat), while Amani Jackson needed 10.9 seconds to win the 100 and Amos Webb claimed the 200 in 22.1 seconds. Ryan Peters threw the discus 116 feet 3 inches and the shot put 41 feet 5 inches. Curtis Walker took the long jump (19 feet 9 inches) as Zach Leibman cleared 11 feet in the pole vault. Leibman, Sterriker, Navale Taylor and Ira Griffin ran the 4×400 in 3:34.7 as Dan Driscoll, Will Hohreiter, Isaac Tupper and Sam Dye needed 9:10.2 to prevail in the 4×800. ESM had an early competitive start to the week, at the Tully Monday Invitational, where Megan Crandall, Grace Maring, Gabby Pallotta and Brittany Kubecka finished second in the 4×800 relay in a time of 11:11.69. In the 4×400, Amanda Wall, Danielle Carbone, Gabrielle Figueroa and Arianna Harmon were second in 4:45.28. Crandall, Maring, Paige Courbat and Brittany Kubecka took third in the distance medley relay. Pallotta, on her own, ran to third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:20.57, while Harmon was fourth in the 200. Carly Eaton rose to second in the triple jump (30 feet 3 1/4 inches) as Wall had a second-place long jump of 14 feet 7 1/2 inches and Kim Donato took fourth. Nina Zesky cleared 5 feet for second place in the high jump. Bridget Benz was fifth in the 400 hurdles and Alyssa Passett was sixth in the 800. Then the Spartans earned wins over Fulton (78-63) and Fowler (96-41) on Wednesday afternoon as, on the boys side, ESM handled the Red Raiders 86-55 and the Falcons 100-40. Mike Coogan swept the distance running events, taking the 800 in 2:04.4, running the mile in 4:47.1 and claiming the 3,200-meter event in 10:26.4. As if that wasn’t enough, Mike Coogan joined Joe Coogan, Jesse Perrone and Matt Hoalcraft in winning the 4×800 in 8:57.3. Mike Terry took first in the 110 high hurdles (16.7 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:03.3), while Jacob Cummings stepped up in the pole vault to clear 9 feet 6 inches.
