Westhill’s boys track and field team relied on the trio of Christian St. Amour, Jack Honis and Corey Wilkinson to deliver an 81-60 victory over Marcellus Wednesday afternoon in a three-way meet where both sides beat host Cazenovia – the Warriors 106-35, the Mustangs 88-53. St. Amour would run the 200-meter dash in 23.9 seconds and take just 53.4 seconds to roll to first in the 400-meter dash. Meanwhile, Honis tore to first in the 110 high hurdles In 15.9 seconds, then went to the 400-meter hurdles and prevailed in 1:04.7. Wilkinson’s dominance of throwing events continued as he claimed both the discus and shot put, while the 4×400 relay team of St. Amour, Honis, Tim Sheridan and Matt Trendowski claimed first place in 3:47.2. Marcellus had its own pair of double winner. Jesse Garn ran the mile in 4:45.7 and added an 800-meter title in 2:06.6. Garn, Ryan Manahan, John Bell and Joe Fallon had a strong effort in the 4×800 relay, prevailing in 8:49.4. Nick Huss again won the pole vault, clearing 10 feet 6 inches. Chaz Hayes would prevail in the long jump (17 feet 3 inches) and triple jump (33 feet 8 inches), while Nate Waite sped to the 100-meter title in 11.7 seconds. Waite, Brad Kermes, Mitch Schoenbrun and Chris Manke won the 4×100 relay in 46.7 seconds. In the girls meet, Marcellus would prevail over Westhill, 81-60, though both sides would finish far behind Cazenovia as the Lakers beat the Mustangs 107-34 and Mustnags 106-35. Westhill’s Jessica Curry did win the 1,500-meter run in 5:05.2 and the 3,000-meter run in 11:02.5, with the Mustangs’ Rachel Garn victorious in the 800, edging Hollie Marcelle, 2:28.2 to 2:28.9. Caroline Coates took the 400 hurdles in 1:16.6. Kelsey Burke threw the discus 77 feet 8 inches. Before this, Marcellus had competed in the April 30 Liverpool Girls Invitational, where it qualified for June’s state meet in the 4×800 relay. Garn, Lizzy Dean, Maggie Dunn and Tori Stopen posted a time of 9:53.72. Garn, on her own, ran a 4:59.68 in the 1,500, with Dunn finishing in 5:07.02 and Stopen a 5:22.45. Meanwhile, the Solvay girls track team split its three-way meet, beating Hannibal 69-56 but losing to Skaneateles 95-45. Anna Salvagno won the 400 hurdles in 1:14.2, also teaming with Michelle Slowik, Courtney Napolitano and Christina Clemente to run the 4×100 in 56.1 seconds. Solvay lost both ends of its boys meet to Hannibal 82-50 and Skaneateles 95-49. Despite this, Jake Callisto won the 100 (12.1 seconds) and Nick Cometti took the 200 (23.9 seconds) as the latter teamed with John Salvagno, Eric Goodrich and Matt Battaglia to claim the 4×400 relay in 3:42.7.
