Paige Biviano and Jillian Vogl enjoyed multiple individual titles as the Cazenovia girls track and field team rolled to one-sided wins over Christian Brothers Academy and Solvay on Wednesday to remain tied with Skaneteles atop the Onondaga High School League Liberty division standings. The Lakers ripped past the Brothers 105-36 and handled the Bearcats 113-28, as Biviano worked her way to first place in the 100-meter high hurdles in 17.1 seconds and, in the same meet, cleared 5 feet to prevail in the high jump. Vogl owned the sprints, taking the 100-meter dash in 13.4 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 28.7 seconds. In the 4×400 relay, Vogl, Hollie Marcelle, Tori Widrick and Ellen Burr earned first place in 4:31.8 as, in the 4×100, Vogl joined Audrey Bowers, Piper Gianforte and Paige Schultze for a top time of 54.9 seconds. On her own, Burr needed 1:05.9 to earn a victory in the 400-meter dash, while Gianforte cleared 8 feet and won the pole vault. Grace Eberle earned first place in the discus with a heave of 77 feet 9 1/2 inches. Cazenovia also swept the distance running events, as Marcelle tore to first place in the 800-meter run in 2:34.6, Rae Tobey covered 1,500 meters in 5:18.1 and Jeanette Cudney beat the field in the 3,000-meter run in 11:44.7. Megan Stanford was first in the 400 hurdles in 1:16 flat. The boys track Lakers ended up with a split, beating Solvay 78.5-72.5, but losing to CBA 81-60 as it got most of its success from field events. For the Lakers, Cameron Braathen threw the discus 102 feet 6 1/2 inches as Travis Mimms won the shot put, tossing it 39 feet 6 inches. John Stoker cleared 9 feet in the pole vault, with Tanner Whiteman tying CBA’s Will Brower as they both cleared 5 feet 8 inches in the high jump. Only in the 3,200-meter run did Cazenovia win on the oval, as Pat Dermody outlasted the CBA stars and finished the two miles in 10 minutes, 59.6 seconds.
