Jamesville-DeWitt’s indoor track and field teams dominated both sides of Saturday’s OHSL Freedom division championship meet at Colgate University, while Fayetteville-Manlius won the girls CNY Counties League American division title. The Red Rams had 182 points on the boys side and 165 points on the girls side, earning wins in every conceivable discipline. Ira Griffin, by himself, got three wins. He ran the 55-meter dash in 6.74 seconds, with teammate Michael Meyer third in 7.13 seconds. Griffin also won the long jump, going 18 feet 10 3/4 inches with Marques Drummond in third place, as Griffin also beat the field in the 300-meter dash in 36.51 seconds, with Will Sterriker third. Dan Driscoll, Will Hohreiter, Isaac Tupper and Tom Wilson had a winning time of 8:58.99 in the 4×800 relay, as the Red Rams also got second in the 4×200 in 1:43.30 behind Fowler (1:42.96). Hohreiter, in a time of 10:20.88, won the 3,200-meter run, with Jack Healy second in 10:43.77. East Syracuse-Minoa teammates Jesse Perrone and Louis Ferrone were third and fifth, respectively. Austin Davis, in a time of 4:36.34, beat Driscoll (4:38.56) as they went 1-2 in the mile ahead of ESM’s Mike Coogan (4:43.16) in third. Wilson was third in the 1,000-meter run (1:35.56) as Healy finished fifth. In the 55-meter hurdles, Sterriker prevailed in 8.61 seconds, with East Syracuse-Minoa’s Andres Salacedo second (8.98) and J-D’s Nate Sturgeon in fourth. Alex Wilmot and Christian Quetell were second and third, respectively, in the pole vault, as Michael Meyer (36 feet 11 inches) and Sterriker took those same spots in the triple jump. Koy Adams was second (38 feet 4 inches) and Ryan Peters third in the shot put. Moving to the girls meet, J-D won the 4×400 as Liz Pieri, Katy Pieri, Noelle Novakowski and Danielle Doss held off Homer, 4:31.04 to 4:32.61. Doss, on her own, cleared 8 feet 6 inches to win the pole vault, while Maggie Fuller cleared 5 feet 3 inches for first place in the high jump. Katy Pieri, second in the pole vault, returned to join Fuller, Ally Fox and Cara Gannon to take the 4×200 relay (2:00.01). Liz Pieri added a second in the 300 (45.03 seconds), with Doss in fourth place, and Pieri also got second in the triple jump (30 feet 3 1/2 inches). Ameena Dye needed 5:15.01 to win the 1,500-meter run, where Becca Bergman was second, and Dye, Hannah Stefl, Avery Share and Becca Doss got second in the 4×800 as ESM took third place. Sierra Vasiliou won the shot put, tossing it 33 feet 9 1/2 inches, with Salwa El-Hindi third (24 feet 8 inches) as Vasilou added a second-place long jump of 15 feet 4 3/4 inches. Ally Fox was second in the 55 sprint (7.86 seconds), with Sierra Vasiliou in third. Becca Doss (1:53.50) and Paige Morrow were second and third, respectively, in the 600. Liz P ESM’s Gabby Pallotta was second in the 3,000 in 11:29.98, ahead of Stefl in third and Amber Blom in fourth. Taylor Cook was fourth and Sara Griffiths fifth in the 55 hurdles. Up in the CNYCL American meet, F-M’s girls, who won with 148 points (Nottingham was second with 98 points), dominated again in the distance races. Maggie Malone won the 3,000 in 10:51.52, with Jenna Farrell second. Katie Sischo beat Emily McGurrin, 3:08.65 to 3:12.93, in the 1,000, with Heather Martin claiming the 600 in 1:45.28 just ahead of Sischo (1:45.31), and Jillian Fanning tearing through the 1,500 in 4:54.33 as Leah Monsour (5:03.03) finished second. Martin also won the 300 (43.62 seconds) over Natalie Zazzara (45.21). Martin, Fanning, Zazzara and Christine Lavoie teamed to take the 4×400 (4:38.53), with Fanning also in the 4×800 as she, Sischo, Alana Pearl and Mary Barger won in 10:07.52. In field events, Jhoville Pommels won the shot put, tossing it 29 feet 1 inch as Odelia Ryan finished fifth, while Jessica Puro cleared 4 feet 6 inches for second place in the high jump. Zazzara, Molly Levy, Hannah Lee and Jessica Puro were second (1:57.09) to Nottingham (1:56.68) in the 4×200. Isabelle Carapella was third (10.08 seconds) and Katie Muller fourth in the 55 hurdles. F-M nearly won the CNYCL boys meet, too, as it got 122 points, just behind Corcoran, who won with 144 points. Andrew Roache (9:39.43) pulled away from Nick Ryan (9:45.57) to win the 3,200, as Mark McGurrin (2:51.31) and Bryce Millar (2:51.33) ran in front in the 1,000. McGurrin also earned a victory in the mile in 4:29.96, with Roache second in 4:40.53.
Ryan Jones claimed the 55 sprint in 6.82 seconds and helped Langston Lightcap, Austin Perez and A.J. Blitz take the 4×200 relay over Corcoran, 1:38.71 to 1:38.98. The Hornets were second in the 4×400 in 3:38.50, just behind Corcoran (3:37.91), but won the 4×800 as Millar, Ben Thomas, Andrew Veilleux and Eric Billingson finished in 8:46.52. Perez got second in the 300 in 38.92 seconds. Lightcap claimed second place in the 600 (1:29.86) as Veilleux (1:32.45) finished third. Charlie Beeler was fourth in the 55 hurdles and fifth in the long jump.
