Come one, come all to help take the docks out of the lake. The fun begins at 9 .am. and should finish up no later than 2 p.m. Come for an hour or two, or stay for the whole time if you can. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Those working in the water will need wet suits, and those on land will need closed toed shoes and work gloves. ERIE MATERIALS, Wirth's Automotive and Robinson Concrete are already on board with the forklifts and trucks. The local restaurants will come through, as they always do, to keep all volunteers well fed and hydrated.
Questions: Call the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce at 685-0552.
If you can't make it because you are laid up and can't get out of the couch, you can still witness this amazing volunteer effort by going to skaneateles.com and clicking on the SKAN CAM to watch it live on Oct. 2. Seriously, you can watch from the comfort of your own living room, and appreciate all the hard work that goes into having the community docks.
And, don't forget, donations to keep the docks afloat are greatly appreciated, as no tax dollars are used for this project whatsoever. The docks are solely maintained and operated by the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce and its many volunteers.
