Patricia Wilson, Baker High School's library media specialist, has been awarded an Arts and Culture Grant worth $2,000 from Target.
Wilson said the library will use the grant to create a permanent viewing area for students to watch video book trailers. The trailers are short, creative advertisements made by students to peak their peers' interest in reading. Students use a variety of video production software to create their trailers, including Photo Story 3, Adobe Premier and Windows Movie Maker.
The new viewing area will make the videos accessible to students in the library throughout the day.
Wilson said that later in the year, college students studying film production will be invited to the high school to share their video production tips with Baker students who are creating book trailers.
