Credit union helps kids kick off the school year

FocalPoint Federal Credit Union recently completed its fourth annual school supply drive benefitting schools in Chittenango, Cazenovia, Hamilton, Morrisville-Eaton, Stockbridge and Madison school districts.

The member-owned financial institution, located on Genesee Street in Chittenango, spent August gathering and preparing backpacks filled with school supplies including scissors, paper, pencils, erasers, folders and crayons, which were delivered to area schools in an effort to ensure local students have all the supplies they need for the upcoming school year. The amount of supplies depended on the size of the school's student body. Chittenango, for example, received five large backpacks filled with supplies.

"Our school supply drive seems to be getting a greater response every year," said FocalPoint's Chittenango Branch Manager Vicki Voutsinas, who points out that faculty and staff, students grades K-12 and their parents and family members are now eligible to open accounts and become members of FocalPoint. "It's great to see people working together and help provide local students the supplies they need to make the most of the new school year."
