The Mottville Fire Company has had a gift not easy to come by. The fire company has been given an old house to use for training purpose. The house allows firefighters to actually cut ventilation holes in the roof, breach interior floors and walls. We can put artificial smoke into the building to perform all the evolutions in a smoke filled environment.
We have welcomed our neighbors from Skaneateles Fire and Marcellus Fire departments in taking advantage of the training opportunity. Our training will continue through out the month of September.
Firefighters responded to 15 alarms in the month of August.
The alarms were one fire alarm activation, one motor vehicle accident, one public service call, two medical calls and 10 calls for mutual aid to our neighboring fire departments.
157 total fire fighters responded with 10.5 average responders per alarm.
285.3 man hours were spent away from home by our responding members.
Total alarms for the year on Aug. 31 was 154.
Fall pancakes are Sept. 19 - see details in the datebook on page 2 of this Press.
The Mottville Fire Company is professionally staffed by volunteers.
