In addition to the package, there are also specials offered each month. Recently, Hot Pockets, stuffed pork chops and lemon herbed chicken breasts were offered. Items vary month-to-month.
Food $en$e meat and grocery packages offer a value not only because of their price, but because the products support the local economy and its vendors. From Roma Sausage, to Palmer Foods and Maines Food Service meats and deli items, to produce from Andy's Produce and Reeves Farms, and Great Lakes Cheese, vendors from Deli Boy in Syracuse to Broccoli Associates in Utica are familiar with what the Food Bank is working to accomplish - and they are there to help.
The Food $en$e package should save customers at least $10 to $15 over what it would cost to purchase the same items at a nearby grocery store or discount food outlet.
Director of Food Sourcing and Nutrition Heather Hudson, MA, RD said, "I think the hardest part for some people is jut taking the first step to sign-up and try the program. But after they've done that, it gets easier."
