The opening concert of Joyful Noise: Concert Series for the Community is at 4 p.m. Sunday Sept. 19 at Liverpool First United Methodist Church.
Robert Auler, piano, and Tigran Verdanyan, violin, will play sonatas of Gabriel Faure (Sonata in A Major for Violin and Piano, Op. 13) and Camille Saint-Saens (Sonata in D Minor for Violin NS Piano, Op. 75).
The concert is free. There is ample parking adjacent to the church, and the building is accessible to all. For information, call Artist Director James Welsch at the church at 457-5180.
Auler, a professor of piano at SUNY Oswego, has appeared on the concert stage throughout the United States and Europe playing solo piano, accompanying other artists and appearing in chamber ensembles. He has performed each year for Joyful Noise and serves on the advisory board for the series.
He will appear with Verdanyan, who plays with the Rochester Philharmonic. Among his many awards are First Prize in the 1991 and 1993 Armenian National Competitions, the Gold Medal in the 1992 Amadeus Competition for Young Artists, the Leni Fe Bland Foundation Award, the Maurice Sklar Music Scholarship, the "Encourage" Award from the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
