Three teens have been charged with a Shop City Plaza robbery.
At approximately 1:54 p.m. Oct. 29, sheriff's deputies responded to the AJ Wright store, located at 139 Shop City Plaza, to investigate a reported robbery. Four teenagers were reported to have been shoplifting inside the store and were confronted by loss prevention personnel in the parking lot.
A short physical confrontation ensued and the four teens fled from the scene on bicycles as deputies arrived. Within minutes two suspects were apprehended and a third was taken into custody a short time later.
Deputies searched the area and interviewed several witnesses and report that the loss prevention staff member received treatment at the scene for minor injuries sustained during the incident
Aikeem Jones, 19, of 111 Sage Ave., was charged with second-degree robbery, petit larceny, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools. Jones was arraigned in Clay Town Court where bail was set in the amount of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond. Jones has been lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center and is scheduled to return Nov. 4 to Salina Town Court.
Two teenage boys, one 14 years old and the other 15 years old, were charged with second-degree robbery, petit larceny and resisting arrest. Both juveniles are set to appear in Family Court sometime this week.
Sheriff's deputies will continue to investigate the incident in effort to identify and locate the fourth teenager reported to have been involved.
