Mrs. Flora Gilmour of Marcellus announced the engagement of her son, Richard Gilmour, Jr. to Ethel Perry of Syracuse. No date was set for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Johnson of Danby announced the engagement of their daughter, Nancy Jane, to Mr. William Munro, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Munro of Marcellus. No date was set for the wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Fishlock announced the birth of their daughter on September 25th. Mrs. Fishlock is the former Melanie Herold. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stevenson announced the birth of their daughter, Laurie on September 28th. Mrs. Stevenson is the former Cynthia Dunbar. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mulroy announced the birth of their daughter on October 3rd. Mrs. Mulroy is the former Monica Hembury. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Richardson announced the birth of their son on September30th. Mrs. Richardson is the former Barbara Haun.
A beautiful candle light ceremony for Miss Joan Radway and Mr. Jack Shinnick was held in the Onondaga Hill Methodist Church on October 8th. Miss Joyce Radway was maid of honor. Miss Nancy Shinnick and Miss Ann Sanborn were bridesmaids. Best man was Mr. Charles Hart, Jr. Ushers were Mr. Philip LaBrecque and Mr. Charles Sanborn. Miss Cheryl Radway was flower girl and Larry Ireland served as ring-bearer.
MCS Football "Back of the Week" award went to quarterback David Driver, a senior who had 21 of his passes caught out of 28 for a total of 243 yards. Almost every pass was right to the receiver. Fullback Vince Townsend, also a senior, earned honorable mention. John Parry, also a senior and End for the Mustangs received the "Lineman of the Week" award because he caught 8 passes against Solvay for 122 yards. He had several long passes, one of which was for 37 yards. He averaged 9 yards per pass. Tom Mullen, junior, earned honorable mention as tackle. Tom opened many holes for the Mustang runners and had the highest number of tackles. The Mustangs lost to Solvay 26-19 at Solvay's field. The Mustangs outplayed the Bearcats on the field.
