Harpist, flutist to play at CSCC

Harpist Gail Lyons and flutist Selma Moore will be featured in the Central Square Community Church Family Ovation Concert Series at 4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 24.

This local duo has entertained music lovers in Central New York and beyond for many years.

Lyons was the principal harpist for the SSO from 1967-71. A Marywood College graduate, she is a professor emeritus at Onondaga Community College, where she spent 38 years teaching music theory, classic piano and harp.

She also earned a Master of Music in harp performance from Syracuse University and has been the harp instructor there for more than 40 years.

Moore, a Crane School of Music graduate, has been a professor of music at OCC since 1976 and has been chairperson of the Department of Music since 1984. She has appeared in hundreds of concerts under the auspices of Civic Morning Musicals, Syracuse Society for New Music, Syracuse Camerata, Onondaga Community College and many others.
