Lysander Parks and Recreation offers family Halloween activities

The Great Ghost Call: It's time to sign up for the new Lysander Parks and Recreation Great Ghost Call.

It's easy - call the office at 635-5999, give us your child's name and age, your name and phone number. Between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday Oct. 28, we will call one child from each age group and they will be awarded a prize that can be picked up Oct. 29 at the Lysander Town Building (during our Town Hall Trick or Treat hours).

Coloring contest: Pick up a coloring form from the town building or download one from the web site at townoflysander.org. Color and return by Oct. 27 (not postmarked) for judging. Winners will be called.

Halloween Trick or Treat at the Lysander Town Building: Lysander Town Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Oct. 29 for office trick or treating and to judge the door/window decorating contest (open to ages 3 to 10). Stop after nursery school or grammar school and visit the various participating offices - come dressed or not. Staff will decorate their "windows" and doors and you can help determine the best and get a treat while you are here.

Guessing contest: Be sure to put a guess in the jars to say how many spiders and also how many candy corn are in each of the jars - winners will be called.

Adult basketball

Adult basketball will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 21 through March 4 at Durgee Jr. High School. Must be 21 to attend. Recreational play basketball teams will be formed with those present. This program is open to all adult residents from Van Buren and Lysander only. No pre-registration required; you must fill out a registration card the first time you attend along with proof of residency (license), then sign in and pay each week. No children allowed.
