Syracuse International Film Fest October programs

"We are very pleased that Le Moyne College has chosen to sponsor our signature New Jazz-Classic Film program", said Owen Shapiro, Festival Artistic Director. "The Jazz/Film event is unique each year, with a silent film accompanied by new music created and performed by some of the top jazz musicians in the country." On Friday, Oct. 15, Javon Jackson (national recording artist) will bring his musicians to the Palace Theater stage to play during Alfred Hitchcock's classic, The Lodger. The program will begin at 7:30. Tickets for the event ($20 adults, $15 seniors/Le Moyne faculty and staff, $10 students) can be purchased at the door (2384 James St., Eastwood.)

In addition to the Friday Jazz Event, the festival week will open on Wednesday, Oct. 13 with Vincent Pastore. Best known for his role in the long-running TV show, The Sopranos, Vincent's recent film, Pizza With Bullets, will show at the Palace Theater at 8:15 on Oct. 13 (tickets $15 adults/$12 seniors, students at the door). And for those who enjoy comedy, Vincent will play the Wise Guys Comedy Club (201 S. Salina Street) that same night, beginning at 5:45. After cocktails and a meet & greet, Vincent will take the stage to "tell some jokes, do some skits & trivia - the same thing I do in Reno, Atlantic City - all over." Tickets for the comedy club are by reservation - $65. The schedule has been planned to accommodate those who want to go to the comedy club and the film (both for $75), so you won't have to choose between two kinds of fun. Call to reserve -

469-8917.

Thursday, Oct. 14, (7:30 - Palace Theater) the festival will present the first public screening of the new film Session, starring Israeli actress Bar Rafeli. Session was shot in Syracuse and includes several local actors in supporting roles. Stephen Bauer (Scarface) and Tom Bower (Appaloosa, Pollock) also star. Haim Bouzaglo (Film Director, Israel) completed the film while he was teaching at Syracuse University. Tickets are available at the door $15 adults/$12 seniors/students.
