Three weeks after the polls closed, Dan Maffei has conceded to Ann Marie Buerkle for the 25th Congressional seat, according to an e-mail Maffei's campaign sent out to supporters this afternoon.
In the letter, Maffei said he was proud that he maintained his positions on stimulus, health care, financial and energy reform.
"The electorate may have changed tremendously from 2008 to 2010 in terms of who turned out to vote but I kept my pledges to the people who elected me and I will forever be proud of that," Maffei said.
As results trickled in from throughout the district on Nov. 3, Buerkle had the lead with 99,594 votes to 98,935. As the four counties within the 25th Congressional district geared up to count absentee and military ballots, both sides began renewed fundraising campaigns to help pay for legal fees.
Today, Maffei was still 567 votes behind Buerkle when he conceded.
