Brown prevails as West Genesee spelling champ

West Genesee Middle School eighth-grade student Christopher Brown faced-off against Camillus Middle School eighth grader Elise Dunshee, spelling such words as "ultimatum," "acoustics," and "conversant" until Brown emerged as the first place winner in the West Genesee Spelling Bee held Nov. 8.

This year, West Genesee will send 14 students to join others from Central New York for a written test on Jan. 22.

The top 35 spellers from that round will compete in The Post-Standard WCNY Spelling Bee oral spell down on Feb. 5.
