Bethany Baptist Church of Syracuse and DeWitt Community Church will celebrate Thanksgiving by participating in a joint worship service and dinner.
At 4 p.m. Sunday Nov. 21, the choirs from both churches will present the Festival of Thanksgiving at a service held at DCC. The service will incorporate the richness of both congregations' backgrounds with traditional, classical and gospel music selections.
Those attending the service are encouraged to register for a meal following the service which will provide an opportunity for members from both churches to meet one another and share the spirit of thanksgiving.
"I am looking forward to sharing together in worship and around the table with our brothers and sisters from Bethany" said Mark Sommers, DeWitt's senior minister.
"We're making waves - change is happening," said Phil M. Turner, senior pastor of Bethany Baptist.
Thanksgiving and celebration are long standing traditions of Bethany Baptist Church and DeWitt Community Church. Founded in 1887, the rich history of Bethany Baptist Church includes baptizing Harriet Tubman, the Great Conductor of the Underground Railroad. DeWitt Community Church is currently celebrating its 200th anniversary.
