J-D girls blast Whitesboro, repeats as Class A champs

Less than six minutes into the second half, Tessa Devereaux returned with a charge down the left side and a shot that glanced off the right post and into the net, increasing the margin to 4-0.

Whitesboro finally got on the board in the 51st minute, Ashley Williams putting in an unassisted goal off a J-D turnover, and put on some more pressure in the late stages, but the Rams were too far ahead to get caught. And J-D sealed it as Olivia Ferlenda scored off a feed from the right corner by Emily Nuss with 5:46 left and Nuss herself converted with 3:01 to play.

J-D will play again Tuesday night at West Genesee High School against Section II champion Burnt Hills in the first part of the Class A regional playoffs. In all, two regional wins are required for the Red Rams to advance to the Nov. 19-20 state final four in the Cortland/Homer area.
