On Saturday, Nov. 20, Le Moyne College hosts the fifth annual Patricia DeAngelis Youth Piano Festival, turning a spotlight on our region's most gifted young pianists. The festival will culminate in a free concert, open to the public, at 7:30 p.m. in Le Moyne's W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts.
Previous festival award winners have included Andrew King of Jamesville-Dewitt, Nicholas Hrynyk of Auburn, Fayetteville's Rhimmon Simchy-Gross, and others who have gone on to musical careers in central New York and nationally. For this year's festival, participants will particularly feature works by Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann.
The free public concert will feature this year's festival winners, previous winners who are now in college, and guest artist Dr. Steven Rosenfeld, who will play Scarlatti, Beethoven, Schumann, and Chopin. For more information, call 445-4523.
