Deputies investigate head-on crash in Lysander

Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a head-on crash on River Road.

At approximately 8:57 p.m. Thursday May 20, Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 8400 block of River Road, to investigate a head-on crash. Witnesses told deputies that a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Clifton Reynolds, 35, of 8406 Gaskin Road, was traveling south at a high rate of speed when he crossed the center line, entered the north bound lane, and crashed head-on with a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, operated by Richard Zimmerman, 23, of Baldwinsville.

Rescue crews from the Belgium Cold Springs and Moyers Corners Fire Departments responded to the scene and extricated both drivers from the wreckage. Zimmerman sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted by the Sheriff's Air-1 helicopter to University Hospital, where he is currently listed in serious condition. Reynolds, who crashed an SUV into the Pier 57 restaurant on Wednesday, was transported by ambulance to University Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff's deputies will be charging Reynolds with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, imprudent speed and failure to keep right.
