J-E voters pass school budget, propositions

Voters approved the Jordan-Elbridge Central School District's proposed 2010-11 budget of $26,357,767 by nearly a 2 to 1 margin.

The budget passed 621 to 332 and will increase the tax levy by 2.88 percent.

Three propositions were also approved by J-E voters tonight:

- Purchase of three 70-passenger buses, one 54-passenger bus for students with special needs, and two 28-passenger buses at a cost not to exceed $516,000 passed 567 to 372.

- Elbridge Free Library will receive a funding increase from $45,000 to $47,000; 596 yes to 340 no votes.

- Jordan Bramley Library will receive a funding increase from $50,000 to $60,000; 552 yes to 389 no votes.

Three new members were elected to the school board; incumbent Greg Frost was voted out:

Brian Richardson, 613 votes

Michael Jorolemon, 611 votes

Roger Hill, 600 votes

Greg Frost, 479 votes
