J-D voters pass 2010-11 school budget, propositions

Voters tonight passed the Jamesville-DeWitt School District budget of $47,395,914 as well as all accompanying propositions on the ballot:

Budget:

Yes: 911

No: 315

The $47,395,914 2010-11 budget has a .7 percent increase over this year's. The board, which adopted the budget April 5, projects a tax rate increase of 1.49 percent.

Propositions:

School buses:

Yes: 840

No: 377

Voters approved the purchase of four school buses: two 65-passenger diesel school buses without luggage at an approximate cost of $194,214; one 65-passenger diesel school bus with luggage at approximately $98,928 and one 45-passenger wheelchair bus with air conditioning for approximately $110,539.

DeWitt Community Library:

Yes: 846

No: 342

Voters approved $1,166,700 in financial support to the DeWitt Community Library, an increase of $40,200 or 3.6 percent over last year.

School board elections:

All three candidates who ran for the School Board of Education were uncontested:

Dennis Resetarits: 1,003 votes

Virginia Murphy: 966 votes

Julie Comanici: 923 votes
