J-D softball goes 2-1; baseball beaten twice

J-D didn't give him much help, though, only getting a fifth-inning run (Eric Thompson earned the RBI, driving home Marzella) and three hits off Bears pitchers Kevin Streeter and Greg Jasek, who combined for five strikeouts.

Trying to recover Thursday, at Cortland, the Rams instead met with more frustration in a 9-6 loss to the Purple Tigers.

Leading 2-1, J-D saw everything fall apart when Cortland batted around in the bottom of the fourth, producing six runs and taking Mike Gianni out of the game.

Eric Schwartz took over in relief and settled things down, and J-D used four runs in the top of the fifth to close the gap to 7-6 before the Purple Tigers scored twice in the sixth.

Kenny Schunck hit the game's only home run, a solo shot, as Schwartz and Tom Driscoll each got two RBIs. Cortland's Ryan Hubbard led his side with three RBIs.
