Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a one car crash that claimed the life of an Auburn teen.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sheriff's Deputies responded to Route 20, just east of Fox Road in the town of Onondaga, to investigate a one-car crash.
Witnesses told deputies that a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, operated by Jordan P. Hirsch, 19, of 252 E. Genesee St. in Auburn, was traveling west on Route 20 when it drifted off the north side.
According to deputies, Hirsch's car traveled down an embankment and struck several trees before coming to a stop. The impact from the crash caused extensive damage to the vehicle forcing rescue crews from the Navarino Fire Department to extricate Hirsch from the wreckage.
Hirsch sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted by Mercy Flight to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Team will conduct a complete investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Preliminarily reports do not show alcohol being a factor in the crash.
