The Warriors did turn it around Thursday, going to Auburn and outscoring the Maroons 21-14. The wild affair saw Liverpool survive all kinds of Auburn charges to grab a 12-8 halftime lead and keep on converting as it steadily pulled away.
Conese and Daucher led the way, each scoring five times, with Allison Flood close behind as she earned four goals. Andrea Flood had two goals and one assist as Ashleigh Caruso stepped up with a goal and two assists.
Tassone also had two assists as Kayla DeAngelis, Morgan Beaty, Kristina Lombard and Mary Fadden also earned goals. Kim Neagle (three goals, four assists) and Nicole Schattinger (four goals, one assist) led Auburn's effort.
After the Liverpool teams face Baldwinsville on Tuesday, both will go to the Carrier Dome Friday night to take on East Syracuse-Minoa for a special doubleheader and fund-raiser. Games start at 5:45 and tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for anyone aged 12 or younger.
All the money raised will benefit the Brian Wilbur Fund and Kara MacDougall Fund. Wilbur is a Liverpool senior who was diagnosed with cancer in 2008, then saw it go into remission, only to have the cancer return just as he was finishing his football season last fall. He just finished another round of chemotherapy.
MacDougall was an ESM student who was found to have cancer during a student exchange program in Australia last summer. She passed away in January.
