Sheriff's investigate Van Buren stabbing

Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a domestic related stabbing that occurred at Cedarwood Apartments in Van Buren Saturday.

Around 3 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to 1 Cedarwood Blvd, Apt F, regarding the report of a female being stabbed. When deputies arrived, they learned that Rachell Evans, 23, of 108 Second St. in Ithaca had been stabbed in the abdomen several times, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, Cleveland Sessons, 41, of 1 Cedarwood Blvd, Apt F. Sessons had fled the crime scene prior to deputies arriving.

Several Sheriff Patrol units arrived at the scene and searched for Sessons. Deputies located Sessons in another apartment building storage unit and recovered the alleged knife that was used in the assault. Evans was transported by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Sessons was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph's hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor lacerations.

Sheriff detectives are still investigating the incident and charges are pending at this time.
