Skaneateles: Town to hear comments on windmills

The town board will hold a public hearing at 7:15 p.m. Thursday April 15 at Town Hall, 26 Jordan St., for Introductory Local Law 2010-A regarding windmills in the town of Skaneateles.

The town board scheduled the hearing and also declared itself lead agency. A SEQR will be completed at the public hearing.

According to Codes Enforcement Officer Debbie Williams, the law includes recent comments from the planning board.

Equipment bid accepted

One bid was received by the Skaneateles Town Board for a fitness equipment lease.

The town's lease with Leasing Innovations, a company based in California, is set to expire. By accepting a bid from Advantage Sports Equipment for $11,350, the town is able to keep the equipment for the Skaneateles Community Center.

If the board rejected the bid, the equipment would have been returned to Leasing Innovations.

A budget amendment states there was a transfer of budgeted funds from the lease expense line to the equipment line.

Hamlet meeting not rescheduled

The town board did not reschedule the hamlet meeting that was canceled Feb. 25 due to a snowstorm that blanketed the area. The board will reschedule once the weather breaks so residents will be able to attend.

According to Supervisor Terri Roney, the Department of Environmental Conservation is talking about coming to the area in May to give an update on the Stauffer Chemical cleanup project.
