US EPA Names CNY a Climate Showcase Community

The US EPA has picked Central New York as one of 25 Climate Showcase Communities out of about 450 applications nationwide.

The CNYRPDB's Central New York Climate Change Innovation Program will award $30,000 grants to three communities for each of the next three years.

One grant per year will be given to a community of 10,000 people or less. US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) Region 2 Administrator Judith Enck said the $500,000 CNY grant for climate change is "cold cash to cool the planet."

She added, "EPA is making this investment in Central New York because climate change is real and it's happening now."
