YMCA and Skaneateles Recreational Charitable Trust make it official

On June 14 at 10:30 a.m. the YMCA of Auburn and the Skaneateles Recreational Charitable Trust (SRCT) formally signed the documents necessary to transition the management of the Skaneateles Community Center to the YMCA. Laura Coburn, Chairperson of the Auburn YMCA Board of Directors, and Douglas Adams, Chairman of the SRCT, made it official, while Kurt Kramer, Executive Director of the YMCA, and Charlie Wallace, President of the SRCT, witnessed the signing.

What does this mean for current members of the Y and current members of the Skaneateles Community Center? It means your membership is now twice as good as it used to be. On Aug. 1, when the management agreement takes effect, members of each facility will have use of the other facility and its programs. Both sites offer programs and services that are unique to that location, providing more options for individuals and families.

Dorothea Hughes, a 30-year YMCA staff member, will serve as Director at the Skaneateles site. She is overseeing the transition, including alignment of memberships and programs, personnel, management, IT, finances and communications.

There's always lots going at the Center. Stay tuned for bi-weekly updates as the transition continues.
