B'ville music ensembles win awards

Several ensembles from the Baldwinsville Central School District's music program have received awards in recent competitions. The band program was the recipient of several awards at the 49th Annual Gorham Pageant of the Bands, held June 5 and 6. Following is a list of the awards:

    Marching Band: first place, Overall Class Champions AA

Baker High School Concert Band: first place

Colorguard: third place

Drumline: first place

Baker High School Jazz Band: first place; Best High School Brass Section for Jazz Band

Durgee Junior High School Concert Band: first place

The marching band also took first place in the parade band category and was named the Overall Class Champion for the highest scoring band at a music competition held at Darien Lake on May 29. Ray Middle School's string ensemble, the Bee Sharps won first place, Class A Orchestra, at a Darien Lake music competition held on May 21. The school's jazz band, the Katz Pajamaz, won first place, Class A Jazz Band, at the same competition.
