North Syracuse elects Browning, Fergerson

The village of North Syracuse hosted a special election Tuesday June 15 to elect a candidate for the seat of village mayor for one year and village trustee for a three-year term.

Acting Mayor Diane Browning won the mayoral seat with 333 votes while acting trustee Fred Fergerson was elected to a three-year term with 355 votes.

North Syracuse resident Gary Rainbow received 94 write-in votes, also. Polls were open at the Village Community Center from noon to 9 p.m.

"Your good wishes and cooperation have been phenomenal," Browning said in a recent column in the Star-Review. "I have been able with my staff to promote projects and deal with issues that are important in the lives of the families who call this community home."

The Democratic and Conservative parties endorsed both Browning and Fergerson.
