Carpenter named LHS Senior of the Week

Senior of the Week

This week's Liverpool High School Senior of the Week for June 16, Kathryn "Katie" Carpenter, has a few musical traits in her bag.

Carpenter has been a member of the LHS Marching Band for four years and the Jazz Band for one year. She has been playing the alto saxophone since she was in fourth grade. Her favorite subject at LHS has been history.

This soon-to-be LHS grad is also a member of the Key Club and a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital. She is a Big Buddy at Liverpool Elementary. Carpenter has received the LHS Student of the Month Award for her kindness, she said.

Within her busy schedule, Carpenter finds time to work part time as a cashier at Rite Aid.

When she isn't working or volunteering, she enjoys camping, hiking, traveling around the world and cooking new dishes.

Carpenter chalks much of her inspiration to her parents Pat and Fred Carpenter.

"They have exposed me to many different experiences which have prepared me for my life ahead," she said.

After graduating from LHS, Carpenter said she plans to attend SUNY Plattsburgh where she will begin her nursing degree in the fall.
