Syracuse Police investigate two Tuesday stabbings

The Syracuse Police Department investigated a stabbing that occurred in the vicinity of the Southwest Community Center on the 400 block of South Ave. at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Syracuse Police arrived on the scene and located one juvenile victim with one stab wound to the torso. The victim was transported to Upstate Hospital and was listed in serious, but stable condition. Police quickly located the suspect and took the suspect into custody, identified as a 15-year-old female who was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

The juvenile was taken to the Hillbrook Detention Facility and will appear in Family Court tomorrow.

The second stabbing occurred on the 300 block of West Ostrander Ave. at about 8:45 p.m. Syracuse Police arrived on the scene and located one victim with a stab wound to the back. The victim was identified as 16-year-old Jamesha Brown of Syracuse.

Brown was transported to Upstate Hospital for treatment and her injury is not life threatening.

The investigation is continuing.
