Brother hits brother with Windstar and runs

The Syracuse Police Department investigated a hit and run crash that occurred about 12:05 a.m. this morning on the 500 block of Lemoyne Ave.

Police arrived and located one injured victim lying in the street. The victim was identified as John Laveck, age 25, of 200 Union Place in Syracuse.

The investigation revealed John Laveck was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Windstar, which was being driven by his brother, Josh Laveck. The two had an argument in the vehicle and John Laveck exited the vehicle and began walking.

Josh Laveck initially drove away, but turned the vehicle around, and ran down his brother who was walking on the side of the street.

John Laveck was taken by ambulance to University Hospital where he is being treated for a broken leg, broken pelvis, and several abrasions. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police located the 2000 Ford Windstar and 23 year old Josh Laveck at 228 Clarence Ave. in Syracuse where he resides. Josh Laveck was arrested and charged with assault in the first degree, leaving the scene of a personal injury incident, both felonies, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and reckless driving, both misdemeanors.

Josh Laveck was lodged in the Justice Center and was arraigned this morning in Syracuse City Criminal Court.
