Syracuse Police Make Arrest after Investigating a Shooting

On June 3rd, at 7:18 p.m., members of the Syracuse Police Department responded to a "shots fired" complaint at 1201 Butternut St. in the vicinity of the Choice One Market.

Police obtained a description of the suspect and were told that the young male, who fired one shot towards the parking lot of the market, fled into the backyard of a residence on the 1100 block of Butternut St. headed towards Highland Street.

Police searched the area and located a person meeting the suspect's description behind 1015 Highland St. where he was taken into custody.

The person was later identified as Ronald Maynor Jr., age 22, of 721 Hawley Ave. in Syracuse. The ensuing investigation resulted in Maynor being charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and reckless endangerment in the first degree, both felonies.

Maynor was lodged in the Justice Center and arraigned in City Court.

The gun has not been recovered at this time, and nobody was injured during the incident.
