Engler moved the Warriors within one out of the title. But VVS would not die, as Jamie Cielinski's single cut the margin to 4-3, and a throwing error allowed the tying run to race home.
Fired up, Iseneker pitched a scoreless eighth, and now had retired 10 in a row as the Red Devils tried to win it.
With one out, Laguzza doubled. Engler struck out Travis Eaton, but it appeared that Anthony Rocco had delivered a sectional championship when he singled to left field.
However, Heitz, whose seventh-inning two-run home run beat CBA two rounds earlier, charged the ball, threw to the plate on one hop -- and catcher Dylan Gorski tagged Laguzza.
Now it was the Warriors carrying the emotional edge -- and they finally got to Iseneker in the top of the ninth, loading the bases with one out before Ryan Watson doubled home two runs and Engler contributed a two-run single.
VVS could not answer in the bottom of the ninth, and its season concluded with a record of 18-5.
