Third Oneida fire ruled arson

According to OFD Chief Don Hudson, a Sunday evening Seneca Street porch fire has been ruled arson.

The third in a recent string of arsons, the 425 Seneca Street fire could have been much worse. The small blaze was contained to the porch and a nearby shrub.

According to the home's residents, Michael and Sherry Allen, an unknown person knocked on the door to let them know their porch was on fire.

"We are grateful to this person for possibly saving our lives, and our home."

Two fires, both located on Seneca Street last month, were deemed arson by investigators; a garage at 421 Seneca and a two-story residence just 500 feet away were destroyed by the fires.

Chief Hudson says investigators are working around the clock to find those responsible.

"We have a strong person of interest, and are still following leads and speaking to residents," said Hudson.

"We want this to come to a quick conclusion."
