On June 15, voters in Canastota will again be asked to go to the polls to vote on the school district's budget once more.
The $24.7 million budget was defeated by nine votes last month, one of three budgets to be downed. After a special informational meeting in which residents were asked to voice opinions and questions, school board officials are hopeful for a positive outcome.
With three options before them; resubmitting the same budget, adopting a contingency budget or changing the budget, the board decided to keep the budget and allow residents to re-vote.
If the budget is again defeated, a contingency budget will be adopted.
In a statement on the district's web site, residents are warned of the outcome of another defeated budget. The loss of AYSO soccer, basketball and youth wrestling among others is a definite possibility if a contingency budget is to be adopted.
Voting will take place from noon to 9 p.m. on June 15 at Roberts Street School, Whitelaw Church, South Side School and the Clockville Town Hall.
