Eight houses are under construction for this year's Parade of Homes in the town of Manlius.
The annual event is a presentation of some of the region's best builders, allowing the public to walk through fully decorated and landscaped showcase houses to gather ideas for their own home.
The homes are being built as a subdivision of Mallard's Landing, called The Villas, and access to the event will be off South Eagle Village Road.
The general public is welcome to tour the site during set hours from Saturday Sept. 11 until Sunday Sept. 26.
This will be the fourth time the Parade of Homes has come to the town of Manlius since its start in 1992. In 1993, it was at Garden Park in the village Fayetteville; in 2003, it was in Fayetteville again at Briarbrook and then in Minoa at Minoa Farms in 2005.
Town Day, set for Tuesday Sept. 21, will celebrate the town of Manlius. Officials will set up booths, give away hand-outs and answer questions. Supervisor Ed Theobald said the town is also reaching out to Fayetteville-Manlius High School; it is hoped the school will provide musical entertainment. Details will be forthcoming.
Participating custom-home builders include Stringer Homes, Eldan Homes, Harrington Homes, Zellar Homes, Signature Crest Builders, Sciuga Custom Builders, JMG Custom Homes and Konrad Builders.
The average price of the homes is just over $400,000.
