However, before any work can begin, every household in the Whispering Oak sewage district must be inspected to verify that households aren't illegally discharging sump pumps or pool drains into the public sewer.
Lysander board member Jack Krisanda said, "We are not out to punish folks that are connected to the sewer. Our goal is to solve the problem."
Inspections are conducted by the Onondaga Country Plumbing Control. To date, only nine of the 48 households have been inspected. The Town of Lysander has televised notices and sent out two letters to every affected household.
The latest letter included reference to legal action being taken if residents don't comply. Bullis made it clear that the town will work with households to finish inspections as soon as possible.
"We are doing everything in our power to accommodate residents," Bullis said.
Whispering Oaks residents still needing an inspection are directed to contact Plumbing Control Supervisor John Williams at 435-6614.
