Town of Clay Recreation Department
Weekly playground roundup
July 5 to July 9
It has been a nice start to the Town of Clay outdoor sights. The weather has been hot, steamy, and excitement dills the playgrounds. Pinegate Park has a steady and very active showing, varying from ages five to fourteen. Bayberry Park is full of different fun activities that involve all ages. The outdoor parks are a fun, safe, exciting place to come and play, meet new friends, and be active. Just remember that we are the ones in the bright yellow shirts having all the fun this summer.
It was a wild and wet week at Bear Road for our kids as the temperatures soared to record highs. We didn't spare the water as everyone did a great job on using it for a number of games that ranged from tossing water balloons to sprinklers that shot up into their faces, making for some hysterical fun.
Some kids tried their best to avoid the water all together by correctly answering trivia questions. We made the questions tough to answer, so they wouldn't suffer in the heat. They didn't seem to mind it, though. As far as other activities go, they included a number of projects in out arts and crafts program, which ranged from making carnival masks to three dimensional marshmallow art.
We also enjoyed a visit by Kim Smith of the CNY SPCA and her special friend Bentley, a very friendly Bull Terrier. The kids got a kick out of how curious he was about his surroundings and how he warmed up to them almost immediately. The kids had a lot of good questions about Bentley and the SPCA for Kim, and in the process they learned many things about the responsibilities of owning a pet. Thanks to you, Kim.
