King earns prestigious Pepper lacrosse award

The John Pepper Memorial Athletic Fund is proud to announce that Adam King is the recipient of the third annual John Pepper Memorial Award.

Adam is a resident of Camillus and a 2010 graduate of West Genesee High School and is the son of John King and Annette King-Patriarco. Adam will continue his education at Ithaca College and pursue a degree in sports media this fall. Adam will also continue his lacrosse career playing for the Bombers men's Lacrosse team.

The committee looked for a player from the West Genesee Wildcat team who exhibits all that John Pepper and the John Pepper Tournaments are committed to: sportsmanship, respect of the game, hard work, team work and camaraderie. Adam exemplified all of those traits on and off the field of play.

"It is truly an honor to receive this award, King said. "I have learned numerous life lessons by playing the great game of lacrosse and with the same morals that John Pepper did. To be mentioned in the same conversation as him is the highest honor I could receive."

The John Pepper Memorial Athletic Fund was established in memory of John, who passed away in an automobile accident in 2001.

In 2002 a group of people, friends of the Pepper family, gathered together to start a lacrosse tournament in memory of John Pepper. The proceeds from the tournament promote the sport of lacrosse in the local community including the annual John Pepper Award.
