Baldwinsville Introducing 'Tobacco Free Zones' in Parks

The fenced-in areas of McHarie Park, Mercer Park, and the Diane Reeves Memorial park will soon be designated "Tobacco Free Zones."

The Baldwinsville board, working in cooperation with the Onondaga County Health Department, voted to erect signage prohibiting all tobacco products inside the parks. According to the Health Department, this new policy will reduce litter, protect the environment, and shelter children from the effects of tobacco smoke.

Trustee Stebbins, in support of the new designation, said, "There is no safe level of second hand smoke. Children should be able to play in parks without being exposed to tobacco."
