Van Buren: Proposed legislation opposed, public hearing

Prevailing wage opposed

Van Buren town officials passed a resolution that opposed proposed legislation that would require companies using Industrial Development Agency assistance to guarantee prevailing wage for contractors and subsequent permanent employees. Supervisor Claude Sykes said the legislation would prevent developers from building and creating new jobs.
