Many Central New York races for public office go uncontested. Consequently, voters hear almost no dialogue on important issues. The community needs candidates who have good ideas and can make a positive contribution, but many people don't run for office or volunteer because they don't know how to do it.
The Central New York Political Leadership Institute, a non-partisan group, is hosting a free informational session about a training series that will be offered this spring to those interested in running for office and/or working on the operational aspects of a campaign. This event, to be held at 6 p.m. Monday Feb. 11 at the Doubletree Hotel in East Syracuse, will provide an overview of the Institute's 2010 political training program.
Interested parties are asked to R.S.V.P. by Friday Feb. 8. Call Robin Holmquist at 422-5471, e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the institute's Web site for more information at cnypolitics.org.
