Much more than a baby was born at Bethlehem. The love of God was manifested in a way the world could appreciate, understand, and accept it, so we can live it out in our daily lives. This is the word for all who feel unloved, for all who don't know how to love, for all consumed by hate, for all who want to be better people, for all who are bound by bad habits, for all who cannot see goodness enough to even desire it: God became flesh and dwelt among us to show us a better way (1 Corinthians 12:31).
When God made humans in his likeness and image, we could speak his language and sing his song. This was lost through Adam's fall; although we could still speak the words, we could no longer comprehend their meaning in our living. Then came the Babe of Bethlehem; love, purity, peace, beauty lived and walked among us. When Jesus touches our lives, something happens: he puts a new song in our hearts and mouths (Psalms 40:3; 96:1-3). Now we can keep Christmas all through the year!
